VIOLENT CITY formed in Paris in 2021, when Stéphane (LES TIGRES DU FUTUR) and I finally got around to starting a band together. Aymeric joined on guitar, bringing his love of Finnish Speed Metal into the mix, followed by Thomas (WEHUNGRY) on drums and Matt (DIALOGUE) on bass.

The music developed somewhere between Stéphane's metallic crust and Aymeric's Speed Metal influences, with both gradually bleeding into each other.

Lyrically, VIOLENT CITY takes place in a miserable post-cyberpunk world ruled by the Neuromancer, a tyrant who controls the population through a drug called Hex. The songs follow a loose narrative involving mindless labour, violence, addiction and a supposed saviour, the Harbinger of Light, who turns out to be just another fraud.

Our self-titled debut EP was recorded at Tallman Studios in Pantin, mixed by Stéphane and Thomas, and released on cassette by Yoyodyne Records. We played around ten shows in 2023, sharing bills with BOMBARDEMENT, YOUTH AVOIDERS, FORESEEN, 80HD and THE MENTORS, among others.

A second EP, Dystopian Blaster, followed in 2024, again recorded at Tallman Studios and released on Yoyodyne. Thomas subsequently left the band, and we began working with new drummers in 2025.

We're now writing the final chapter of the story. The Neuromancer's days are numbered.
